Eligibility Criteria
- Feeder Cadres: Officers in Upper Division Clerk (UDC) / Senior Secretariat Assistant (SSA) Grade in CSS (DoPT) or MEA.
- Service Length (Crucial date: 1 July 2025):
- Not less than 6 years of approved and continuous service in the UDC/SSA grade.
- For MEA: Must have also successfully completed prescribed mandatory training programme(s).

Selection Process & Exam Pattern
The exam consists of two parts:
- Part-I: Computer Based Examination (300 Marks)
- Paper-I (150 Marks, 3 Hours): Objective type (MCQ) covering General Awareness (flagship schemes), Indian Constitution, Parliamentary Procedures, Reading Comprehension, CSMOP, Allocation & Transaction of Business Rules, Noting & Drafting.
- Paper-II (150 Marks, 3 Hours): Objective type (MCQ) covering Service Rules (Leave, Conduct, CCA, Pension, NPS), Financial Rules (TA, LTC), RTI Act 2005, POSH Act 2013, Records Management, Précis Writing.
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in both papers.
- Part-II: Evaluation of Record of Service (100 Marks)
- Evaluation of Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APARs) for candidates who qualify Part-I.
How to Apply
- Register/Log in on the new Staff Selection Commission portal at ssc.gov.in.
- Click on "Apply" under the Assistant Section Officer / Assistant Grade LDCE 2025 listing in the Live Exam section.
- Fill in the cadre/service, chronological service details, and exam medium preferences.
- Capture a live photograph and upload your scanned signature (10-20 KB).
- Upload required documents (certified Service Book first page, particulars of service) and submit.
- Print the submitted application and attach self-attested copies of documents.
- Forward the printed application through your Head of Department / Head of Office (signed and stamped with seal on photo and form) to:
