Subject-wise Syllabus
Part-A: Aptitude and General Awareness
- Reasoning & Data Interpretation (30 Marks): Logical reasoning including analogy, classification, series, coding-decoding, blood relations, direction sense, order & ranking, syllogism, puzzles, seating arrangement; basic tabular, bar, line, and pie chart data interpretation especially related to mechanical/transport examples.
- Quantitative Aptitude (30 Marks): Number system, arithmetic basics, percentage, ratio & proportion, average, profit & loss, discount, simple & compound interest, time, speed & distance, time & work, simple data interpretation and calculations.
- Constitution, Current Affairs, English & Gujarati Comprehension (30 Marks): Indian Constitution basics (Preamble, Fundamental Rights & Duties, Directive Principles, government structure), current affairs covering major events and government schemes, English and Gujarati comprehension passages, vocabulary, and grammar.
Part-B: Technical & Acts
- Engineering Drawing: Engineering curves, projection of points, lines and planes, orthographic and isometric projections.
- Engineering Mechanics: Free-body diagrams, friction and applications, trusses, virtual work, kinematics, dynamics, impulse and momentum, Lagrange’s equations.
- Mechanics of Materials: Stress and strain, elastic constants, Poisson’s ratio, Mohr’s circle, thin cylinders, shear force & bending moment diagrams, bending and shear stresses, beam deflection, torsion, Euler’s theory, thermal stresses, testing methods.
- Theory of Machines: Mechanism analysis, cams, gears, flywheels, balancing masses, gyroscope, dynamic analysis.
- Vibrations: Free & forced vibrations, damping, isolation, resonance, critical speeds.
- Machine Design: Design principles of joints, shafts, gears, bearings, brakes, clutches, and springs.
- Fluid Mechanics: Fluid properties, statics, control-volume analysis, Bernoulli’s equation, dimensional analysis, viscous & compressible flow, flow in pipes.
- Heat Transfer: Modes of heat transfer, heat exchangers, two-phase heat transfer.
- Thermodynamics: Systems and processes, gas behavior, thermodynamics laws, property charts, relations.
- Applications: Power engineering, IC engines, refrigeration & air-conditioning cycles.
- Materials and Manufacturing: Material structures, heat treatment, casting, forming, joining, and conventional manufacturing processes.
- Metrology and Inspection: Basic concepts and inspection methods.
- Motor Vehicle Acts & Road Safety Rules: Legal provisions, safety guidelines, and policies relevant to motor transport.
Marking Scheme
The examination carries a total of 210 marks with a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are advised to answer carefully to minimize penalties.
