South Central Railway has released the South Central Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2025-26 notification for engagement of 2,801 Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules 1962 in various trades like Fitter, Electrician, Welder, AC Mechanic, Carpenter, COPA, Diesel Mechanic and more. Eligible 10th pass ITI candidates belonging to the notified districts of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh can apply online for SCR Act Apprentice 2025-26 from 12 March 2026 to 11 April 2026 through the RRC/SC page of scr.indianrailways.gov.in.

Eligibility criteria - South Central Railway Act Apprentice 2025-26

1) Educational qualification

  • 10th class/SSC passed under 10+2 system with minimum 50% aggregate marks from a recognised board.

  • ITI certificate in the relevant notified trade from an institute recognised by NCVT/SCVT (trade-wise: AC Mechanic, Carpenter, COPA, Diesel Mechanic, Electrician, Electronic Mechanic, Fitter, Industrial Electronics, Machinist, MMTM, Motor Mechanic Vehicle, Painter, Welder).

  • Candidate must possess required qualification as on date of online application submission.

  • Engineering graduates and diploma holders are not eligible for this Act Apprentice notification (covered under separate scheme).

2) Age limit (as on 11.04.2026)

  • Minimum age: 15 years.

  • Maximum age: 24 years.

Relaxations included in above ranges:

  • SC/ST: +5 years.

  • Ex-Servicemen: +10 years up to length of service in Defence Forces (no extra relaxation for their children).

3) Residential / jurisdiction eligibility
Candidates must reside in districts under South Central Railway jurisdiction and provide valid proof of residence. Eligible areas:

  • Telangana: all districts.

  • Andhra Pradesh: all districts except Manyam, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram.

  • Maharashtra: Akola, Amaravati, Aurangabad, Beed, Chandrapur, Hingoli, Jalna, Latur, Nanded, Nasik, Parbhani, Washim, Yavatmal.

  • Karnataka: Balki, Bellari, Belgaum, Bidar, Gulbarga/Kalaburgi, Raichur, Yadgir.

  • Tamil Nadu: Vellore.

  • Madhya Pradesh: Burhanpur, Khandwa.

4) Category certificates (for reservation)

  • SC/ST: Central Government format caste certificate (Annexure-B).

  • OBC-NCL: caste + NCL certificate (issued within 3 years) in Central format (Annexure-C) + self-declaration (Annexure-D).

  • EWS: valid Income & Asset certificate (Annexure-E).

  • PwBD: disability ≥40% in prescribed format (Annexure-G/H).

5) Salary/Stipend

  • Selected candidates will be paid a stipend during the apprenticeship at the prescribed rates as per extant instructions.

SCR Apprentice Selection Process 2025-26

  • Merit List Basis: Selection for SCR Act Apprentice 2025-26 will be done purely on merit, by taking the average of percentage marks in 10th (minimum 50% aggregate) and ITI marks, giving equal weightage to both.
  • No Exam / Interview: There will be no written test or viva-voce for South Central Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2025-26.
  • Tie-breaking: If two candidates have the same aggregate percentage, older candidate (higher age) will be preferred; if DOB is also same, the candidate who passed Matriculation earlier will be preferred.
  • Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates will be called for DV where all original certificates (education, ITI, caste, EWS, PwBD, ExSM, RDAT registration, medical fitness) will be verified.
  • Medical Fitness: Candidates must produce medical fitness certificate from a government-authorised doctor (Gazetted, not below Asst. Surgeon) in prescribed format at DV; without this, they will not be considered.
  • Training & Stipend: Selected candidates will undergo apprenticeship training as per Central Apprenticeship Council syllabus and receive stipend at prescribed rates during training.
  • No Job Guarantee: SCR apprenticeship 2025-26 provides training only; there is no guarantee of regular railway job after completion of apprenticeship.

South Central Railway Apprentice Application Form 2026

  • Application Mode: Online only via RRC/SCR portal; no offline forms will be accepted.
  • Application Dates: SCR Apprentice online form 2026 is available from 12 March 2026 (17:00 hrs) to 11 April 2026 (23:59 hrs).
  • Fee: ₹100 for applicable categories; SC/ST, female/Transgender and PwBD candidates are exempt from fee payment.
  • Multiple Trades: Candidates with ITI in more than one trade can submit separate SCR Apprentice application 2026 for each trade.
  • Communication: All updates regarding SCR Act Apprentice 2025-26 application form, merit list and DV will be sent via registered email/SMS and uploaded on RRC-SCR webpage only.

How to Apply for South Central Railway Apprentice Recruitment 2025-26

  1. Visit the official South Central Railway website: https://scr.indianrailways.gov.in and go to About Us → RRC-SCR to open the ONLINE ACT APPRENTICE APPLICATION link.
  2. Read the detailed SCR Act Apprentice 2025-26 notification carefully and ensure you belong to the eligible states/districts and possess required 10th + ITI qualification.
  3. Complete Registration: select state and district, upload address proof, enter valid mobile number and email ID, create a password and verify OTPs sent to mobile and email.
  4. Login as a registered candidate and fill in personal details (name, DOB, category, etc.) and educational/technical details (10th marks, ITI trade, ITI marks, RDAT registration number).
  5. Select your priority/preference of training units (Divisions/Workshops/Sheds) only for trades you are eligible for; options once submitted cannot be changed.
  6. Upload a recent colour photograph (JPEG, ≤1 MB, not older than 3 months), signature image (≤1 MB) and required certificates (10th, ITI, RDAT form, caste, EWS, PwBD, ExSM, medical certificate) in PDF format (≤2 MB).
  7. Ensure you have completed RDAT/NAPS registration at www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and obtained registration number before filling the SCR apprentice application.
  8. Check all details in the Preview page carefully; after clicking Submit, no modification will be allowed.
  9. Pay the application fee (if applicable) through online payment gateway (Net Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card/UPI) and generate e-receipt.
  10. Download/print the final submitted SCR Apprentice application form 2026 and keep it along with fee receipt and uploaded documents for Document Verification.
